Employee – Terms & Conditions

SSF – Safe Steps Forward Temporary Staffing Agency Ltd.

At SSF – Safe Steps Forward, we are committed to providing workers with transparent, fair, and professional access to employment opportunities. Our objective is to connect candidates with suitable employers while respecting applicable Portuguese employment legislation, workers’ rights, human dignity, and data-protection requirements.

These Terms & Conditions explain the general conditions applicable when you register with SSF, participate in our recruitment process, or are considered for an employment or temporary-work opportunity.

1. Registration with SSF

Registration with SSF allows you to create a candidate profile and be considered for suitable employment opportunities.

When registering, you agree to provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date information, including your identity, qualifications, professional experience, skills, availability, and other information relevant to employment.

Registration does not guarantee employment, placement, or a specific job opportunity. Selection depends on available vacancies, employer requirements, candidate suitability, and applicable legal requirements.

2. Job Matching and Recruitment

SSF may assess your profile against available vacancies and opportunities offered by our clients or partners.

Where your profile appears suitable, we may contact you regarding:

  • Position and job description
  • Employer or client requirements
  • Location of work
  • Working schedule
  • Required qualifications and experience
  • Duration of employment or assignment
  • Remuneration and applicable benefits
  • Other relevant employment conditions

You are free to accept or decline an opportunity, subject to any contractual obligations that may already exist.

3. Employment and Temporary Work

Where SSF acts as an Empresa de Trabalho Temporário (ETT), the employment relationship and temporary assignment will be governed by the applicable Portuguese legislation and the relevant contractual documents.

Where SSF acts as a recruitment or employment intermediary rather than the employer, the employment relationship may instead be established directly between the worker and the relevant employer.

The applicable rights and responsibilities will always depend on the actual contractual arrangement, applicable Portuguese labour legislation, and, where applicable, collective bargaining agreements.

4. Employment Contract and Conditions

Before commencing employment or a temporary assignment, the worker will receive the relevant contractual information and documentation required under applicable law.

This may include information concerning:

  • Job position and duties
  • Place of work
  • Working hours and schedule
  • Duration of employment or assignment
  • Remuneration
  • Holidays and rest periods
  • Applicable social-security arrangements
  • Other statutory or contractual conditions

Workers are encouraged to carefully review all contractual documents before signing and to ask SSF for clarification regarding any provision they do not understand.

5. Remuneration and Payroll

Where SSF is the employer, remuneration will be processed in accordance with the applicable employment contract and Portuguese legislation.

Any applicable deductions, Social Security contributions, taxation, and other statutory obligations will be handled in accordance with the law.

Workers will receive the remuneration and employment benefits to which they are legally or contractually entitled.

6. Equal Treatment and Non-Discrimination

SSF is committed to providing equal opportunities and does not support discrimination based on characteristics protected by applicable law.

We seek to ensure that recruitment and employment decisions are based on professional qualifications, skills, experience, suitability, and legitimate job requirements.

Every worker should be treated with dignity, professionalism, and respect.

7. Worker Responsibilities

Workers are expected to:

  • Provide truthful and accurate information.
  • Provide valid documentation when required.
  • Attend interviews, assessments, and appointments as agreed.
  • Respect employment and assignment conditions.
  • Follow reasonable workplace rules and health and safety requirements.
  • Perform assigned duties professionally.
  • Notify SSF of relevant changes to contact details, availability, or documentation.
  • Inform SSF promptly of any significant issue affecting an assignment.

Providing false information or fraudulent documentation may result in withdrawal of an application or termination of an applicable contractual relationship, subject to the law.

8. Health and Safety

SSF is committed to supporting safe working conditions.

Workers must follow applicable workplace health and safety procedures and use required protective equipment where applicable.

Workers should immediately report serious health, safety, harassment, or workplace concerns through the appropriate channels.

9. International Employment Opportunities

SSF may work with employers or partners in other European countries where legally permitted.

International opportunities may be subject to additional requirements, including:

  • Right to work
  • Visa or residence requirements
  • Work authorisation
  • Professional qualifications
  • Recognition of qualifications
  • Immigration requirements
  • Destination-country employment legislation

SSF does not guarantee the approval of any visa, residence permit, work authorisation, or other government application. Such decisions remain with the competent authorities.

10. Recruitment Fees and Payments

SSF will clearly communicate any legitimate fees or costs that may apply to a particular service before the worker commits to them.

SSF does not support fraudulent recruitment practices, undisclosed charges, or payments requested in exchange for guaranteeing employment.

Workers should be cautious of anyone claiming to represent SSF who requests money or personal information outside our approved communication channels.

11. Personal Data and Privacy

SSF will process candidates’ personal information in accordance with applicable data-protection legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Portuguese law.

Personal information may be used for legitimate recruitment, employment, workforce management, legal, administrative, and contractual purposes.

Where appropriate and legally permitted, relevant candidate information may be shared with potential employers or clients for recruitment and placement purposes.

Further information is available in our Privacy Policy.

12. No Guarantee of Employment

Registration with SSF does not guarantee that a candidate will receive an interview, job offer, employment contract, temporary assignment, or international placement.

Opportunities depend on employer requirements, availability of vacancies, candidate suitability, selection processes, and applicable legal requirements.

13. Changes to Candidate Information

Workers should keep their SSF profile and contact information up to date.

You should inform SSF if there are changes to your:

  • Address
  • Telephone number
  • Email address
  • Work authorisation
  • Residence documentation
  • Qualifications
  • Availability
  • Employment status

14. Complaints and Concerns

SSF encourages workers to raise concerns promptly and professionally.

If you have a concern relating to your recruitment, employment, assignment, remuneration, workplace treatment, health and safety, or other employment matter, you should contact SSF through the appropriate communication channel.

We will review complaints and concerns in accordance with our internal procedures and applicable law.

15. Applicable Law

These Terms & Conditions are intended to operate within the framework of Portuguese law and applicable European legislation.

Where SSF provides temporary-work services as an ETT, the applicable Portuguese legislation governing temporary agency work, employment contracts, temporary assignments, worker rights, and related obligations will apply.

Where an assignment takes place in another country, the applicable legislation of that jurisdiction may also apply.

16. Acceptance

By registering with SSF, submitting an application, or participating in our recruitment process, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these general Terms & Conditions.

These Terms & Conditions do not replace an individual employment contract, temporary-work contract, assignment agreement, collective agreement, or any mandatory statutory rights applicable to the worker.
